Bagian yang salah adalah preposisi on (C) yang berarti mengunjungi seseorang (called on). Padahal kalimat itu meminta off sebagai ganti on yang berarti ditunda (called off). Maka kalimat yang betul adalah “The game was called off because of rain”

4.      Brenda must have called her brother last night, but she arrived home too late to cal him.

Pada soal diatas, kata pilihan (B) wait me seharusnay disisipkan kata depan for dan menjadi wait for me yang berarti menunggu. Maka, kalimat yang benar yaitu “Can you wait for me after the game?”.

Kalimat diatas salah, karena kata kerja planned yang past tense diikuti verba bentuk –ing atau geround. Kalimat ayng benar yaitu, “be planned on attending the meeting”

Soal diatas bermasalah dengan superlatif. Hal ini diketahui dari frasa preposisi dengan objek preposisi nomina kamak oranges yang didahului oleh preposisi of. Maka kalimat yang benar yaitu, “Until recently, California was the largest producer of oranges in the U.S.”

Pada soal diatas, jawaban (a) it will boil and escape karena penggunaan kala yang tepat dan referensi it yang juga tepat.

Pada soal diatas yang ditanyakan oleh subjek yaitu objek yang kebetulan diawali oleh kata tanya why. Kata tanya why dalam hal ini bukan berarti pertanyaan, tetapi konjungasi. Dalam objek itu yang dibutuhkan subjek dan verba. Maka jawaban yang benar yaitu (c) He did.

15.  Yeast are tiny ____ plants.

c)      Small singled – celled

d)     Small one-celled

Pada contoh diatas yang salah adalah A,C, dan D karena mengandung sinonim small yang merupakan sinonim Tiny. Jadi, yang benar adalah (b) Singled-celled, karena bukan sinonim dari tiny.
